Acquisition Watch: building services, facilities management and TIC transactions we tracked in the week to 4 September 2026
A selection of tracked acquisitions in fire and life safety, TIC, HVAC, electrical, waste and maintenance, and what each one tells an owner about valuation.
Published 4 September 2026. Window covered: 28 August to 4 September 2026. Written and reviewed by Joe Lewin, Founder and Managing Director, DealFlowAgent.
Key takeaways
- Acquirers in fire and life safety continued to buy inspection-and-service businesses rather than project contractors, with Pye-Barker adding Suppression Systems in the Pacific Northwest and RapidFire adding Black Fire & Security Services in El Paso, Texas.
- The largest transaction in the window is a testing, inspection and certification deal, not a building services deal: Kiwa Group has signed an agreement to bring CSA Group's TIC business into the group at an enterprise value of EUR 1.3 billion. It is agreed, not completed, and remains subject to Canadian Standards Association member approval.
- Limbach Holdings closed its acquisition of Madison-based MEP contractor 1901 Inc for an initial purchase price of USD 63 million, funded from cash and its revolving credit facility.
- Waste and environmental services saw three separate transactions in seven days, including GFL Environmental closing its acquisition of SECURE Waste Infrastructure Corp.
- Texas appears in two of the transactions listed below. US deal density is statewide, but Texas and Florida remain the two markets where we see the highest volume of owner-managed compliance and service businesses changing hands.
- The consistent thread across sub-sectors is statutory, recurring, inspection-driven revenue. Where the customer has no discretion over whether the work happens, buyers pay more and diligence is shorter.

This is a sample of what we found and verified in the window. It is not a complete record of the market. A large share of transactions in these sectors are never announced at all.
DealFlowAgent works exclusively on the sell side in building services, facilities management and the testing, inspection and certification work that runs through both, typically with owner-managed businesses between GBP 1 million and GBP 100 million of revenue in the UK and US. We track this activity weekly because our acquirer network self-registers with us and tells us its search criteria directly, which means we can read announcements like these against what buyers have actually said they want. If you want the same read on your own company, start with a free valuation report.
What did acquirers buy in fire and life safety this week?
Fire and life safety buyers concentrated on recurring inspection and service revenue. Three of the four transactions in this sub-sector involved businesses whose income is driven by statutory obligation rather than customer discretion: suppression servicing, extinguisher inspection, detection maintenance. None of the week's fire deals was a pure project or installation business.
MSA Safety and Autronica Fire & Security (Norway). Trade press reported that MSA Safety completed the acquisition of Autronica Fire & Security, the Trondheim-based fire detection, gas detection and alarm systems business, in a transaction reported at approximately USD 555 million. [1]
This is a product and technology transaction at the top of the market rather than a service-contract transaction, so it does not price your business. What it does show is where strategic capital is pointing. Detection and alarm capability is being bought at scale, and installed systems require inspection, maintenance and certification underneath them.
Pye-Barker Fire & Safety and Suppression Systems Inc (Washington and Oregon). Pye-Barker acquired Suppression Systems Inc, a fire suppression business serving commercial and industrial premises in the Pacific Northwest. [2]
Pye-Barker is among the most active acquirers in US fire and life safety by volume. The relevant point for an owner is not the individual deal but the repeatability of the profile: established, technician-led businesses with inspection and service obligations behind the revenue.
RapidFire Safety & Security and Black Fire & Security Services (El Paso, Texas). RapidFire acquired Black Fire & Security Services, a business spanning fire protection, electronic security, life safety, extinguisher inspection and kitchen exhaust hood cleaning. [3]
This one is instructive for smaller owners. A mixed local service book, with several lines that are low-ticket, unglamorous and statutorily driven. That combination clears buyer screening filters quickly, because the revenue is predictable and the customer cannot simply defer the work.
Ventro Group and R.D. Jukes (Midlands, UK). Ventro acquired R.D. Jukes, adding passive fire protection capability in the Midlands. [16] This was announced on 19 August, just before our window. We have included it because it is the clearest recent UK signal in passive fire, and we would rather be explicit about the date than quietly stretch the week.

Why was the biggest deal of the week a TIC transaction?
Because testing, inspection and certification revenue behaves differently from contracting revenue. It is mandated, repeatable, accredited and difficult to displace once embedded. Buyers pay for that, and the week's largest transaction by value is a TIC deal rather than a building services deal.
TIC is not a separate industry sitting alongside building services and facilities management. It runs through them. The fire alarm engineer, the water hygiene sampler, the lift examiner and the electrical test technician are all performing inspection and certification work inside a building services delivery model. That is why we treat testing, inspection and certification as connective tissue across the sector rather than a niche.
Kiwa Group and CSA Group's TIC business. Kiwa Group has signed an agreement to bring CSA Group's testing, inspection and certification business into the group at an enterprise value of EUR 1.3 billion. Closing remains subject to approval by the members of the Canadian Standards Association and other customary conditions. [4]
Label this correctly: agreed, not completed. We flag that distinction on every transaction because owners routinely read "announced" as "banked", and the gap between the two is frequently several months of conditions.
DISA Global Solutions and The TEAM Companies. DISA acquired The TEAM Companies, expanding its compliance and workforce screening capability. [5]
BDI and WPS Engineering. BDI acquired WPS Engineering, expanding bridge inspection services in the US. [6]
Two very different sizes, one underlying logic. Compliance and inspection revenue is required by someone other than the customer's discretionary budget. In a soft economy, that is the most valuable single characteristic a services business can have.

What happened in HVAC, mechanical and electrical?
Mechanical and electrical buyers were active at both ends of the size range this week, from a listed acquirer closing a USD 63 million platform addition to regional buy-and-build adding a single electrical contractor. Both ends were buying delivery capability with an existing engineer base, in geographies the acquirer already serves.
Limbach Holdings and 1901 Inc (Madison, Wisconsin). Limbach closed the acquisition of Madison-based union MEP contractor 1901 Inc for an initial purchase price of USD 63 million, funded with available cash and borrowings under its recently expanded revolving credit facility. [7]
Note that this one is closed, not merely announced. Limbach has been explicit for some time about shifting its mix toward owner-direct relationships and away from general contractor work, and 1901 fits that direction.
Leap Partners and Van's Electric (North Carolina). Leap Partners acquired Van's Electric, expanding its North Carolina operations. [8]
Presidential and Shipley. Presidential, part of BRG Building Solutions, expanded its service offering through the Shipley acquisition. [9]
Assemblin and KE Rörinstallation (Sweden). Assemblin acquired KE Rörinstallation, strengthening heating and sanitation capability in Sweden. [10] We include one continental European transaction where it reads across; this one shows the same buy-and-build logic operating in a market with a comparable installed base.

Why were there three waste and environmental deals in one week?
Waste and environmental services carry the same characteristic buyers are chasing everywhere else in this sector: contracted, route-based, regulated revenue that recurs without a sales cycle. Three separate transactions completed inside the window, spanning infrastructure scale down to single-market bolt-ons.
GFL Environmental and SECURE Waste Infrastructure Corp. GFL closed its acquisition of SECURE Waste Infrastructure Corp. [11]
Reworld and three Long Island businesses. Reworld acquired Clean & Green Recycling Corporation, ClearFlo Technologies and EnviroTec, all Long Island based. [12]
Ally Waste and Swift Integrated Services. Ally Waste acquired Swift Integrated Services. [13]
Critter Stop and Bluebonnet Pest Control (Dallas Fort Worth). Critter Stop acquired Bluebonnet Pest Control, growing its footprint in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. [14] Pest control sits in the same family: scheduled, contracted, low-ticket, high-retention.
Related reading: waste management, waste management valuation multiples, pest control M&A, pest control multiples.
What about UK maintenance and facilities management?
UK activity in the window was smaller ticket and buy-and-build in character, consistent with what we see most weeks. The UK market has fewer large platform events and a steadier flow of regional consolidation, usually where the acquirer wants either geographic coverage or an accreditation it does not hold.
Cardo Group. The building maintenance group completed its sixteenth acquisition. [15] Sixteen transactions is a programme, not opportunism, and programmes like this are how a lot of UK owners will meet their eventual buyer.
Smart Energy Training. A double acquisition expanded the group's UK reach in heat pump and renewables training. [17] Worth noting for UK owners in heat pumps and low-carbon heating: capability and accreditation shortages are themselves becoming acquirable assets.

What owners can act on
Every point below is drawn from the profile of the businesses that were bought this week. None of it requires you to be selling.
Contract mix and renewal length. The recurring theme across fire, TIC, waste and pest control is contracted revenue with a statutory or regulatory driver. If your revenue is project-weighted, the single highest-value change available to you is converting project customers onto scheduled service agreements, and lengthening renewal terms where you can.
Accreditation. Several of the week's targets hold accreditations that are slow and expensive for a buyer to build organically. Accreditation is not a compliance cost, it is part of what is being bought.
Engineer retention and subcontractor reliance. Buyers in mechanical, electrical and fire are acquiring an engineer base. A high subcontractor ratio weakens that. Retention data, apprenticeship pipelines and low churn are diligence assets, and they need to be evidenced, not asserted.
Systemised job management and data quality. If your job history, asset registers, certificates and renewal dates live in one system and can be exported cleanly, diligence gets shorter and the buyer's risk discount gets smaller. If they live across paper, spreadsheets and an engineer's memory, that discount widens.
Owner dependency. If the technical judgement, the key customer relationships and the pricing decisions all sit with you, a buyer is acquiring a job rather than a business. This is usually the largest single addressable factor in the valuation of an owner-managed services business.
Recurring versus project revenue. Two businesses with identical EBITDA do not price identically. The one whose earnings are contracted, mandated and renewing prices higher, because the buyer's forecast risk is lower. This is the mechanism behind almost every transaction listed above.
We assess thirty of these factors in the free valuation report, across finance, people, operations, account management and growth. It is built by our team, and it takes days rather than months.

Frequently asked questions
Is now a good time to sell a building services business?
It depends far more on your own contract quality, staffing stability and accreditation position than on the calendar. Buyers in these sectors were active every week of this year. Selling from a position of strength, with contracted revenue and a stable engineer base, produces a better outcome than selling in response to an event. A free valuation report will tell you where you currently sit.
My sub-sector is not in this week's list. Does that mean nothing is happening?
No. This is a sample of transactions we found and verified in a seven-day window. A large proportion of deals in building services and TIC are never announced publicly, particularly at the owner-managed end of the market. Absence from this list carries no information about your sub-sector.
What is the difference between a deal being announced and being completed?
An announced or agreed transaction has signed terms but has not closed, and usually remains subject to regulatory clearance, member or shareholder approval, or other conditions. A completed transaction has closed. We label each one, because the gap between the two is often several months and occasionally the deal does not close at all.
Do you contact buyers about my business if I request a valuation?
No. We do not approach any acquirer about your company until we hold a formal mandate with your written permission. The valuation report and the buyer mapping are done without any contact with the market.
How does DealFlowAgent know what buyers are looking for?
Our acquirer network self-registers with us and states its own search criteria: sector, size, geography, the characteristics it will pay a premium for and the ones that put it off. That is proprietary information you cannot get from public sources, and it is why we can usually map likely acquirers for a business within a day of an enquiry.
What does a free valuation report actually include?
An indicative valuation range, the reasoning behind it, and an assessment across thirty factors spanning finance, people, operations, account management and growth, with the specific actions that would move each one. It is produced by our team and reviewed by a human before it reaches you.

Methodology and disclosure
Transactions were identified through sector-specific and country-specific searches covering 28 August to 4 September 2026, then verified by reading the source page directly and parsing its publication date. Acquirer press releases, company newsrooms and regulatory filings are treated as primary. Established trade press is used and described as reported. Aggregators and social posts are used for discovery only and are never cited. Deal values, employee numbers and business descriptions are as stated by the sources listed; nothing has been inferred. Where a transaction is agreed rather than completed, we say so. Every external link above was checked at the time of publication. One company newsroom page blocks automated requests, so mirrored coverage of the same announcement is listed alongside it. One transaction (Ventro Group and R.D. Jukes) sits just before the window and is included because it is directly relevant to the passive fire protection read-across.
Nothing in this article is investment, financial or legal advice. Commentary describes patterns across the transactions listed and is not an assessment of any individual company.
